Why so many moms quit breastfeeding?

What the #1 reason moms quit breastfeeding? Not enough milk. It is the most common reason for stopping nursing and introducing formula in the first two weeks of a baby's life.
Why so many mothers struggle with something their bodies designed to?

                                          What Nursing Moms Need

Here's what helps:

Skin-to-skin-contact
Being skin to skin with mom right after birth helps a baby get ready to suckle for the first time. " Early skin-to-skin contact - ideally for at least an hour immediately  after birth - seems to help the baby's ability to latch properly," - Beverly Chalmers, an independent Ottawa researcher and lead author of the Maternity Experiences Survey.

No formula (unless absolutely necessary)
Any bottle of formula(or water) in the first days of a baby's life disrupts the establishment of the mother's milk supply. " If you give the baby formula, she will drink less mother's milk. If the baby drinks less breast milk, the mother makes less milk." Plus, the baby misses an early opportunity to learn to suckle, and make no mistake, the baby's skill at nursing is part of the milk-making equation.
The mother will also have to express milk, so her brain keeps getting the signal to make it. But if she's not shown how, has no encouragement from family or friends, goes home with a sample of formula, and then can't find help if she runs into problems, it can be the beginning of a serious milk supply problem.

Rooming-in and feeding on demand
Having babies and moms together 24 hours a day, and feeding the baby whenever she(he) wants - even if she(he) just nursed a half an hour ago - are strategies that go together because both lead to more frequent nursing, which is what helps a moth make milk.

Frequent nursing is not only normal, it's necessary.
Yet how many mothers have heard someone say, "You're feedim him again already? He can't be hungry yet! Does that kid ever stop nursing?"

Frequent nursing is not only normal, it's necessary because it stimulates the breast to make milk. This is particularly important in the early days when the milk supply is just being established.

Showing moms how to breastfeed
Milk supply isn't just about the mother's body making milk; it's also about getting it into the baby. A good latch is key. If the mother is making milk, but the milk is not flowing to the baby properly - often because of latch problems - then the milk gets stuck in the breast. So the baby isn't getting milk, the breasts swell and get sore, and nursing becomes uncomfortable and discouraging. On the other hand, the baby's efficient sucking because of a good latch signals the mother's breast to make more milk.

More challenges
Here are the basics of a good latch:
  • It's not just sucking on the nipple. The baby's mouth is wide open and nipple is at the back of his mouth.
  • His chin will be pressed against the breast, and his nose, though close to the breast, will not be pressed in like the chin.

Oball Toys Support and Stimulate Infant Growth & Development

Like many great brands, Oball™ started out as a single product developed by a company called Kids II.  The company has been in business for four decades producing innovative baby products.

The original Oball™ was, as its name suggests, a ball-shaped toy, now called the  Oball™ Classic.  The soft, flexible moulded sphere consists of what look like fused rings, resulting in 32 holes that create a tactile experience that babies love.  Each ball is multi-coloured in various bright shades, adding another sensory element to this toy that is simple in its complexity.

Tactile sensation is critical to the process of developing motor skills in babies, both gross and fine.  Oball™ places a great deal of emphasis on the tactile experience, incorporating a variety of tactile sensations into each toy they make.  Designing each toy with bright colors helps to stimulate the brain, develop eyesight and encourage color differentiation.  Some Oball™ toys also add the element of sound by incorporating rattles.  Babies quickly learn that shaking the object produces sound, which, among other things, helps babies to discover the principle of cause and effect.

The popularity of the original Oball™ lead the company to develop more toys based on the original concept.  Fuzzy Freckles Children's Store and online catalogue carries several of these fantastic developmental toys.   Take a look at some of our favourites:

* The  Oball™ with Rattles:  This is a new take on the Oball™ Classic.  Four inches in diameter, this award-winning design provides the same great tactile experience, but with the added element of rattles.  The rattles are small beads safely contained inside of transparent round cases mounted inside some of the Oball's™ rings.  The rattles add another sensory factor, sound, as well as enhanced tactile experience.

* The  Oball™ Rattle and Roll: This design is destined to become baby's first toy car.  The sturdy, moulded design is safe for play, tactile, and brightly-coloured.  Each wheel contains a bead rattle similar to the ones in the Oball™ with Rattles.  The car has a "roll cage" made of…. naturally…. soft, flexible moulded rings just like the original Oball™.

* The Oball™ Mini Beebo: Similar to the original toy, this design features twisted spindles instead of circles.  Small beads can be moved over the spindles for even more sensory stimulation.

* The Oball™ FlexiLoops: This toy consists of a solid spherical core with semi-circular rings attached.  Each toy is multi-coloured and made of the same flexible material as the original Oball™ toy.

* The Oball™ Clickety Twist: This fun design has a sphere-shaped core, similar to the Oball™ FlexiLoops toy.  Sprouting from the core are spindles of different textures: smooth, ridged and coiled.  Each one provides a different tactile sensation.

All of the Oball™ toys that you'll find in our children's store are PVC, BPA and phthalate free, which is perfect for parents who worry about the chemicals that may leach from toys into baby's mouth.

Cradle Cap

It looks like my baby has dandruff. Is it cradle cap?

If your baby's scalp has flaky, dry skin that looks like dandruff, or thick, oily, yellowish or brown scaling or crusting patches, it's probably cradle cap. Doctors call it infantile seborrheic dermatitis, and it's very common.

Cradle cap isn't cute, but it's harmless. It shows up most often in the first few months of life and  usually clears up on its own in about six to 12 months – although some children have it for longer.

You might notice the same condition around your baby's ears or eyebrows, on his eyelids, or even in his armpits and other creases.

What causes cradle cap?

The cause is unknown. But we do know that cradle cap is not caused by poor hygiene or allergies. Some experts believe that the hormones a baby receives from his mother at the end of pregnancy overstimulate the baby's oil-producing (seborrheic) glands, resulting in cradle cap. Irritation from a yeast that grows in the sebum (the substance produced by the glands) is also thought to be a possible culprit. But there's no consensus on the cause.
Cradle cap isn't contagious. And it probably doesn't bother your baby at all, although if it gets severe it might itch.

How should I treat my baby's flaky scalp?

CRADLE ME is a perfect remedy for cradle cap. Contains a creamy blend of oils that work wonders to soften, moisturize and lift dry cradle cap scales. Apply 100% natural 'Cradle Me' over cradle cap area and let absorb for several hours. Once scales are softened, slough off with a soft-bristled baby brush and shampoo hair with Dimpleskins Naturals' Avocado Soap. Repeat as often as needed.

When does process of Teething Begin?

When a baby begins teething there is no set patters on when it will begin, how long it will take and how painful it will be. To one baby cutting a tooth might happen overnight without pain, while another child might have to go through a long, drawn out and painful experience. You may sometimes visibly see a rise or lump in the gum for several weeks, while sometimes there may be no visible clue at all until the tooth actually appears.
On average the first tooth comes in during the seventh month, although it can arrive as early as three months, or as late as a year, or in rare cases even earlier or later.

Which teeth come first?

What are the symptoms of teething?

The symptoms of teething vary from child to child. Because of these different experiences, parents and physicians often disagree as to the symptoms of teething and how painful it is.
Some of these symptoms may include -

Irritablility: As the sharp little tooth rises closer to the surface your babys gums may become increasingly more sore and painful, leading your baby to become fussy.
Drooling: From three to four months of age you may see your baby start drooling more often than normal. Teething stimulates drooling, which is often worse with some babies than others.
Coughing: the extra saliva can cause your baby to occasionally cough or gag. This is nothing to worry about as long as your baby seems fine and shows no signs of a cold/flue and does not run a high fever.

Chin rash:
If your baby is a big drooler, the constant contact with saliva can cause the skin around the chin and mouth to become irritated. To help prevent this, gently wipe your baby mouth and chin periodically throughout the day.

Biting & gnawing:
A baby that is teething will gnaw and gum down on anything she or he can get their mouth around. The counter pressure from biting on something helps relieve the pressure from under the gums. This is where our products come in handy for your little one.

Cheek rubbing and ear pulling: Pain in the gums may travel to the ears and cheeks particulary when the back molars begin coming in. This is why you may see your baby rubbing their cheeks or pulling at their ears. However, keep in mind that pulling at an ear can also be a sign of an ear infection.

Diarrhea: While this is a symptom that is disagreed upon by most physicians, morst parents usually notice slightly looser bowel movements when baby is teething.

Low-grade fever: A fever is another symptom that doctors are sometimes hesitant to directly link with teething, but there are many parents who will disagree with this and find their baby gets a slight fever while teething. The best thing to do is be extra safe and notify your dr if the fever lasts more than two days.

Not sleeping well: With teething pain happening during the day and night, you may find your child wakes more often at night when the pain gets bad enough.

Cold like symptoms (runny nose etc): Some parents find that their baby will show signs of having a cold. Runny noses, coughing and general cold symptoms are believed to come from the baby having their hands in their mouth more often. Play it safe and always notify your doctor if symptoms such as this occur.

How can I help my baby with the pain?

The teething process will come and go just like so many other things with new babies. Keep trying different things until you find what provide the best relief for your child.

Amber Jewelry For Pain Relief, and more!

Real Story about Amber Healing !

"After a rough couple weeks this summer with my son working on his 2-year-old molars, I looked into purchasing an amber necklace for him to wear to see if it would help with the last two. As I was buying them, I added another amber necklace for my 4-year-old daughter, partly because they are really cute,
partly because I will randomly try things like this to see if it helps with some aspect of her autism, and partly because whatever her brother has, she wants.
I put the necklaces on the children right away, and because of the amber necklaces were small enough that they couldn’t see them when they looked down, and light enough that they barely felt them, they had no problem keeping them on. I didn’t notice a drastic difference with either child right away, but a couple weeks later I realized that my son had cut in his two remaining teeth without me noticing, which meant that we didn’t have any fussy evenings or all night nursing sessions.
For my daughter who has autism, I didn’t notice a difference until I took the necklace off a few weeks later. With the necklace off she gets more fussy, more picky, and has more meltdowns. So we keep the necklace on!  Another completely anecdotal observation: My children recently had chicken pox, and they didn’t seem to itch at all! They had the necklaces on the entire time, and didn’t seem bothered by the pox one bit.
For us, these changes have been slight, but noticeable. As with most natural remedies, your mileage may vary".

Healing Properties:
A powerful stone for manifestation, amber is also used for healing of the physical body as well. For over 7,000 years it has been used to stimulate the metabolism and treat skin ailments caused by a metabolic imbalance.
Because of it's warmth it is used also in the treatment of asthma and allergic respiratory problems. Generally wearing amber in a necklace is the most effective for this ailment.
Amber carries a negative electrical energy charge and therefore is good to draw power and energy into its bearer. Amber gives a soothing, light energy that is both calming and energizing at the same time. It can help manifest desires and heighten intellectual abilities, clarity of thought, and wisdom. It cleanses its environment by drawing out negativity, and relieves physical pain the same way.

Funny and Cute Things Kids Say About Moms

Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger
parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in
the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use
string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other Mom?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your Mom?
1. My Mom has always been my Mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty
bossy.
3 They say she used to be nice.

What did Mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk
on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to
chores?

Why did your Mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof
ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the
bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms and dads?
1. Moms work at work & work at home, & dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause
that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.
Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your Mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your Mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of
plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your Mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid
of that.
2. I'd make my Mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who
did
it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on her back.

Baby Amber Teething Necklace

Many parents spend countless hours looking for a homeopathic product that provides relief for teething symptoms. As they explore how to soothe and calm teething children and give them comfort during these very uncomfortable times, they often turn to one of the oldest and natural solutions….amber teething necklace.

AMBER TEETHING NECKLACE DOES IT REALLY WORK?

According to a huge popularity of amber teething necklaces and positive reviews we can say that this belief is true. Amber Teething Necklaces help babies and toddlers to calm and relax, due to ambers contact with the skin, therefore easing and reducing baby’s reaction to the teething pain.

The amber teething necklace is a bit misunderstood. Several father and mother are under the impression that this device just isn’t intended to be chewed on by the baby. The truth is that is not the truth at all. Baltic amber performs its wondrous healing without being rubbed on the gums or swallowed or chewed on or any such intrusive method. It simply has to be worn and in contact with the skin for it to provide the full benefit of pain relief.

WHAT AMBER TEETHING NECKLACES REALLY ARE?

The composition of amber teething necklace involves small, carefully rounded and highly polished Baltic amber beads as well as triple strung natural threads to ensure comfort and durability. As a safety feature there is a knot before and after each bead, so that even in the extremely unlikely event of the string being torn, no beads are lost and there is no risk of choking. Amber teething necklaces are secured with a traditional screw clasp, not a hook and ring!

WHAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO DO FOR YOU

•boost the immune system
•reduce inflammation
•accelerates the natural healing process
•alleviates teething pain
•calming effect without the use of drugs
•natural energizer
•natural pain killer (reduces or eliminates pain associated with headaches, joint stiffness, etc)
•have been known to treat discomfort linked to throat, ear and stomach irritations as well as fevers and colds.

ARE THEY SAFE

Genuine Baltic amber necklaces for teething are always designed with special string that is knotted between each bead so that if the necklace should be broken, the beads will not scatter. The necklace fastens with a screw clasp that opens and closes easily.

SO WHAT IS THE MAGIC IN BALTIC AMBER

Baltic amber contains 3-8% of succinic acid, a scientifically examined medical substance used in contemporary medicine. The highest content of the acid is found in the amber cortex--the external layer of the stone.

Amber works by the skin warming the amber which releases healing oils and the oils are then absorbed into the blood stream. The active ingredient is succinic-acid which was analysed by the pioneer of modern bacteriology, the Nobel-prize winner Robert Koch (1886), who confirmed its positive influence and recent scientific research has also proved that succinic acid has a very positive influence on the human organism. Succinic acid is a powerful antioxidant that helps fight toxic free radicals and disruptions of the cardiac rhythm, succinic acid has been shown to stimulate neural system recovery and bolster the immune system, and helps compensate for energy drain in the body and brain, boosting awareness, concentration and reflexes, and reducing stress.

Amber teething necklace - It's not just a pretty necklace.

Baltic amber (succinite) is a fossil resin from the Eocene Age which formed under natural conditions over 45 million years ago. In spite of the many processes, which the resin went through to transform into amber, it remains in the fossil stage, is subject to oxidizing and polymerization. Since this process is ongoing, amber keeps changing so we can assume that it is a “living” stone, friendly to humans. And so, this unique stone has been fascinating humankind for well over a dozen millennia and has been a material for craft and art, as well as a stone thought to have magical and medicinal properties.

So amber teething necklaces is it fact or fancy fiction? Well, according to a huge popularity and positive reviews we can say that this belief is true.

First recorded in 460 BC, amber became the most precious substance of its time, the messenger of ancient history to scientists (the resin having inclusions of tiny insects and plants of that period), and a most unusual healing solution. The healing properties of Baltic amber are attributed to its primary ingredient, succinic acid, which is mostly located in the surface layer of the amber, and is an exceptionally powerful therapeutic healing agent.

So remember…your child doesn’t need to endure teething pain and the irritability that comes with it. At the first sign of teething, which is most often drooling, reach for natural amber teething necklace. And then relax and let nature take its course.

HOW DO YOU CLEAN YOUR AMBER IF BABY FLINGS PEAS ON IT?

Use a clean, soft cloth and warm water. The amber can be dried and rubbed with clear olive oil, then rubbed with a soft cloth to remove excess oil and restore the polish.

WHERE DO YOU STORE YOUR AMBER WHEN BABY ISN'T WEARING IT?

Do not store your amber with other jewelry because it can create a permanent white coating on the amber. Also, try to avoid getting lotions and perfumes on your amber. These things can create a coating that prevents the natural oils from being released, thus hindering the healing properties of the stone.

Ten Tips for Naming Baby

Perhaps one of the most rewarding stages of pregnancy is picking a name for your baby. Choosing a name for your child is often a neat but frustrating experience. The name you choose is the name that your child is forced to live with, which comes with a lot of pressure. Here are 10 tips to consider when choosing a name for your baby.

Don't let others influence your choice of a name

Everyone you come into contact with will have an opinion on the name you choose, and if you happen to take everyone's opinions into account, your child may end up with no name at all. Therefore, it is best to keep the name a secret until birth.

Think about problematic initials in a name

When thinking of names, the initials are most likely not something thought about, but should be. A friend recently picked a name for her daughter, realizing later that her initials were O.M.G., which may not look very good when monogrammed on a towel.

Make sure the name is pronounceable

Going through life constantly correcting others on the pronunciation of your name can become frustrating,  and your child may not be thankful later on in life.

Think about teasing at school

Children can be brutal at times, as is their nature. Giving a child a name that rhymes with a something foul will not be in your child's best interest.

Know what the name means

It would be best to give your child a name that stands for something strong, such as Dustin, which means "brave warrior". The alternative could be Byron, which means "small cottage or house."

Figure out the spelling of a name

The spelling of a child's name could very well separate the Emily's from the EmmaLeigh's.
Spelling on its own can make a name more unique than those already thought of. Be careful when choosing spelling, though, because some spelling differences can change pronunciation.

Nicknames are inevitable

More often than not, children are given nicknames. Thinking about the nicknames that may come out of  the name you choose may help the decision-making process.

Being unique is fine, but classic names work well

There is a fine line when choosing a unique name. If going in this direction, you must choose a name that is unique on its own, but is not too unique that it may take away from the character of the child. Classic names are classic because they have been tested and are well-liked by many.

Start early when picking names

Naming your child should start early on in pregnancy, such as within the first trimester. This is because names that sound good at the time may not sound good later on and starting early leaves plenty of room for change.

Pick a name both you and your spouse agree on

Both the mother and father should agree on the best name for your baby is to be confident in your decision. If you have done the research, though about it, and done the best you can, it's a wonderful gift both you and your child.

BABY ACTIVITIES : 5 activities to stimulate your baby's vision

From the time your baby is born, his vision is maturing and developing. His vision is only partially developed at birth. He can see, but what he sees is not as clear or complete as an adult's vision. His retina, which helps distinguish color and light, is not fully developed. This is why you might have heard that newborn babies see in black and white. As your baby growth and matures so do the sells in his brain that are responsible for vision. Encouraging your baby to use his vision will help in vision development and will help stimulate visual part of his brain to thrive. Some time during the first few months of life your baby will begin to track object with his eyes. You should consult your doctor if he is not tracking by the time he is three months old. Here are some visually stimulating activities that you can do with your baby to help improve his vision and encourage visual maturity.

  1. Look at black and white (or high contract) board books together. If do not have a black or white board book you can make your own with cardstock paper and black markers. High contrast colors, like black and white, are easier for your baby to see. The more your baby uses his vision to see things, the more his vision will thrive.
  2. Purchase a mobile or car seat toy with stripes and high contrast. Stripes attract baby's attention. In fact, if you have your child's visual activity screened while he is a baby, the doctor's office will likely use black and white stripes to measure your baby's acuity. Babies will naturally look at stripes. Very thick stripes are easy for baby to see but as the stripes get get thinner they become more challenging for babies to see. By measuring how well your baby can see different striped cards your doctor can have an idea of how well your baby can see. Stripes are great for improving your baby's vision. Try to find toys, car seat covers, or even bedroom decor or clothing that contains black and white , red and black, or other contrast bright colored stripes.
  3. Encourage play with bright colored rattles or toys. Jingle a bright colored rattle in front of your baby. Let her practice listening to the sound the rattle makes and following the rattle with her eyes. Eventually as her vision improves she will try to reach out and grab the rattle or toy.
  4. Play with mirrors. Place the mirror about 8-12 inches away from your baby to start with. Newborns can only focus on objects thst are about 8-12 inches away. If you bring things too close or too far away it may be harder for your baby to focus on it. You can use handheld mirrors or purchase a mirrored activity toy for your baby to play with.
  5. Play peekaboo or hide and seek with your baby. You can play by covering your face with your hands and then saying "peekaboo" or once your child gets older you can cover a toy with a blanket and see if your baby can find it.

BABY BRAIN DEVELOPMENT

A baby's brain development begins as soon as it's conceived and progress rapidly throughout pregnancy. By the time baby is born, her(his) brain already consist of more 100 billion brain cells. The wiring of these cells also began in the womb and will never stop. At birth these connections are mostly necessary for regular heart rhythm, controlling reflexes, and also helping other functions necessary for survival.
So, other than basic functions, most of the wiring of a baby's brain develops huge numbers of complex connections that lay the foundation for thinking, feelings, and behaviors.

                                                       6 Helpful Tips
  1. Remember baby brain development begins in the womb. The way mother treats her(his) body will greatly impact development in the womb. That is why nutrition and a healthy lifestyle free of drugs, alcohol and smoking is paramount.
  2. Remove stressors. Too much stress in a baby's life can actually retard baby brain development. Make sure that your baby lives in a safe environment, clear of hazards. In addition, attending to a baby's needs especially when it cries is very important for brain and emotional development.
  3. Talk to your baby. Talking helps develop language skills in the brain. Without this kind of stimulation, there can be a delay in speech and reading skills. In addition it helps form a strong emotional bond with the baby.
  4. Also read to them. Hearing a story also helps develop many different skills such as listening, reading and language. This also provides another opportunity for a parent and baby to bond. As children grow older they will develop an appreciation for books.
  5. Find great childcare. Baby's need large amount of attention and affection for proper brain and emotional development. If you can not be with your baby all times it is very important that you pick the right child care provider. Family and friends are always great but thoroughly vet any new babysitter or daycare, see what the adult to baby ratio is for instance. Don't risk your baby being neglected.
  6. Ask questions. If you are like a most parents, you will have tons of questions. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor or other parents for advice. You can also find many books at the local bookstore or library about child development. These can help you in providing the most brain enriching environment possible.

TRAINING PANTS

There are many advantages to using potty training pants when the time comes for your kid to stop using diapers. The most important of them all is the fact that potty training can be done easier with the pants. Although there are parents today who choose the pull up training pants made by the same manufactures that produce disposable diapers, they usually get frustrated, as it seems to take longer for the child to get over potty training. The reason is that disposable training pants are very absorbent, which prevent the child from feeling the wetness. The fact is that children learn to ignore going to the bathroom because they are comfortable even when they wet their pants, and they can wait for the convenient time to tell their parents that their pants are wet.

The potty training pants on the other hand are usually made of cotton material, which encourages children to learn using the bathroom quickly. This is because although the training pants are as absorbent and as thick as cloth diapers, the child wearing them would still feel the obvious feeling of wetness, which tells him or her quickly that he or she had a little accident. This quick notice encourages children to go to the bathroom instead of having another incident that need to be dealt with right away.

Once you begin potty training your child, it is important to ged rid of diapers as well as pull-ups. Remember that pull ups are different from potty training pants since they are more like diapers. Children would not feel anything if they wet or soil themselves and would not help with potty training at all.

If you have a boy who you are training, you need potty training pants for boys, as these will allow your child to feel the uneasiness and to identify the feelings that his body is giving him when there is a need to go to the bathroom. He will start to connect a full bladder to peeing and wetness, which will motivate him to use the bathroom instead of being uncomfortable if he wets his training pants for toddlers.

If you are going to potty train a girl, then definitely you will need to have potty training pants for girls. Girls are usually a bit more advances than boys when talking about potty training girls but you still need to be consistent and persistent in order to teach your girl to use the bathroom. Make sure that you let your girl see how women use the bathroom, and let her do the same. Watching how her daddy or her brothers do it may confuse her so she must be made to understand to sit when it is time to pee or poo, no matter how daddy and brothers do it.

Your child whether a boy or girl would still have to wear potty training pants at night when they go to sleep and it will present a problem if they wet their beddings. To make potty training pants waterproof, you can make use of a pull up pants that is designed to go over training pants. There are also combination potty training pants that cloth inside and a waterproof cover outside to keep your beddings protected from wetness.

When potty training girls, parents are faced with a very tricky situation and the question that is asked the most is, when to start potty training girls? Once this question is asked, it is now time for you to look up for tips on potty training girls to make you and your child's transition a lot easier.

While it is believed that potty training girls is much easier than potty training boys, there are still some things that you will need to know. Lucky for you, there are some tips on easy potty training girls that will get your precious little darling wearing big kids underwear in no time. The reason why it is said that it is easier to do potty training girls than boys is because, with boys they have to learn how to use the toilet in two steps, one standing up and the other sitting down; however, with girls all you need to do is teach them to sit on the toilet seat and this process takes lesser time.

Although it is easier when you are potty train girls, it is still a very time consuming task and you should look out for signs that your little girl is ready to be potty trained before you try to potty train her. This is because if she is not yet ready, you will just be wasting your time and hers. When you are potty training girls, keep in mind that children live what they learn; therefore, as the parent you will need to take the lead and show your child what they are expected to do.

To do this, you can sit on the toilet and show them how it is done. Show them how to use other things in the bathroom, such as how to wipe and wash their hands. Once they see what you are doing, they will be inclined to try it. It is also better if you allow your child to come in the bathroom when you are actually using it. This is a good way for potty training pants girls because it will teach her faster and she will want to do whatever you do.

The ideal step to potty train girls is to know when the time is right, to look out for signs, and see if she is also imitating what she sees you doing. Based on studies that have been carried out, potty training girls should normally begin anywhere between 18-20 months; however, look for the signs because every little girl is different and will be potty trained at their own pace.

CELEBRATING BABY'S FIRST CHRISTMAS

First, in the past year, you've received the most wonderful gift of all, a newborn baby!
Chances are, you are tired and may be feeling overwhelmed with all the season has to offer, yet you would like to somehow recognize and create special memories of this once in a lifetime occurrence.

Dressing Baby for the Holidays

  • Keep baby's comfort in mind at all times and be practical when choosing from the many holiday related outfits available today.
  • Get more than one outfit, babies love to spit up as soon as you dress them up!

Memory Making Ideas

  • Include a picture of the new baby in your Christmas cards to introduce friends to your newest family member.
  • Start new family traditions that include your infant. For instance, you might sing a special Christmas carol or read a special book to the baby that you will continue to do each year.
  • Consider beginning a special holiday scrapbook or journal that you will update each year. Record how you celebrated the season and of course include pictures and special mementos from each occasion.
  • There is no end to the selection of Baby's First Christmas ornaments available. A favourite are the ones that allow you to record a special message each year!
  • Some parents start a unique collection for their baby at this time. Baseball cards, spoons, jewelry, antique toys and books are just some ideas.
  • Create opportunities for other children to help their new brother or sister during the holiday celebration, such as opening the infant's gifts, or reading a story to him or her.
  • Take lots of pictures! Even if this your third child, take lots of pictures so you can remember the baby's first Christmas. In this technological age, you might even want to videotape it with your digital camera or camcorder. Not only you will enjoy watching the tape as your child continues to grow up, but he or she will want to see what Mom an Dad looked like back then.
  • As the years go by, you might start to forget you gave your infant baby on his or her first Christmas, so write the date on the presents so that you'll remember. This is especially true for books. On toys, games and other items, you might just write the year, the children's name and "Christmas" in magic marker on the bottom.
  • Even if your child is almost a year old, he or she isn't going to be worrying about how much you spend or how many toys are under the tree. In fact, most babies are more interested in colourful ribbons and wrapping paper than what is inside a box.
Treasure your Baby's First Christmas by making memories rather than breaking the bank on presents, and focus on taking pictures or starting a scrapbook. By year two, kids are already starting to develop the gimme's, so enjoy it while it lasts.
